The Entitlement Check call could originate from a sales order, or a service related notification or work order, or the warranty claim itself.
How Entitlement Check Works
- Identify the context:
Equipment, serial number, customer, dates, and performance counter readings. - Evaluate all coverage sources:
Warranty, service contracts, recalls, vendor programs. - Apply priority rules:
Define which coverage applies first, we configure it as a Strategy Sequence. - Return coverage decision:
The coverage decision is called the qualifier, a two character code. Based on the qualifier, parts, labor coverage, billable vs. non-billable will be made known to the caller. - Write check result back to SAP:
Store the qualifier and the coverage object to the calling application, meaning, the Sales Order, or the Warranty Claim, etc. for downstream processing, and it informs a future audit and reporting. If your entitlement check result is used in the sales order for pricing, basically reducing part and labor price to a $0.00 invoice, the coverage qualifier becomes your requested qualifier for your upcoming claim, so that your analyst can view the origin of the claim's coverage, which is then confirmed (or not) with additional data points in the claim itself.
