Configuration Control Solution

With ECC6.0, enhancement package 2, SAP supports configuration control for non-serialized parts. This functionality is required for companies employing little serialization within their build structures and supply chain.

Benefits:

One centralized Master Parts List represents the allowed configuration
Actual configuration can always be kept in a defined, certified state
During removal and installation of spares, Master Parts List is checked for compliance with engineering specs
Dismantled parts are tracked as structure gap in actual configuration and within reverse logistics supply chain management
Overall configuration check can be executed at any time; informs about actual state of complex equipment in real time
In addition to equipment level also BOM item level check is available
Installation/Removal function (IE4N) can be optionally be integrated with goods movements

Detering Consulting has a long history of involvement with configuration management. At Honeywell and Nordam we developed and implemented BOM item specific checking capability as part of the IWB - Inspector's Workbench.

Currently we are in a Proof-Of-Concept stage with a complex equipment manufacturer in the Silicon Valley.
